New book obsessions

somehow we scooted right past mercer meyer to good old frog and toad last week. at first i was very sad to leave behind my little critter friends and even felt hesitant if we were ready to join the ranks of short chapter books. of course, atticus steers the course (as he should) on the books he likes and this mama is just the narrator. i've been amazed that he not only had patience for 50 pages of story but also delighted that we share the joy for two beloved characters like frog and toad. it's been a good 25 years since i've paged through a frog and toad book and i am so happy to return to their sweet world. i think you'll agree that they're just about the cutest best friends ever. we have all year and together and i'm pretty sure santa has frog and toad are friends in her shopping cart.

our favorite story is "cookies." of course. i think my heart stopped when atticus and i both laughed at the same passage:

Yes,” said Frog, reaching for a cookie, “we need will power.”
“What is will power?” asked Toad.

“Will power is trying hard not to do something that really want to do,” said Frog.
“You mean like trying not to eat all of these cookies?” asked Toad.
“Right,” said Frog

any other recommendations for short chapter books?
