weekend wrap up

 it was too cold (again).
i cooked things i loved and things that confused me.
atty walked more and more (we're scared).
i read for three glorious, uninterrupted hours.

we totally have NOT  been eating enough fruits and veggies.
not like when people say NOT in a sarcastic way.
like really, i've neglected myself and my family on this front.
so i juiced.

and then we buzzed around in a better than caffeine buzz all friday afternoon gettin' stuff done.

so much so that i went to trader joes on a friday night (!!)
and then made cup of jo's best spaghetti sauce eva (it was!) with my own version on turkey meatballs.
p.s. i am enjoying the leftovers right now. even better three days later.

atty and i are on a real mango kick.
i can't imagine mangos are in season in february but these are delicious.
we have split a mango every morning for four days straight and i'm afraid of the withdrawal we're gonna experience tomorrow.
please send chocolate to compensate.

when atty was clearing off the bookshelves so helpfully on saturday afternoon, he pulled out a girl's guide to hunting and fishing which i haven't read in years.
this was soon rectified during naptime and bedtime on saturday accompanied by a salted avocado.
i'm also on an avocado kick, but atty refuses to participate.

we ventured out after naptime to get more milk, and of course, $30 worth of other necessities.
atty loves sitting in the cart where he can be the nosiest baby on the planet.
his case of FOMS is the worst i've ever seen.

our house looked like this all weekend until we had company on sunday afternoon.

my lumberjack was guarding angela's vanilla with his life as i made this cookie dough.
p.s. doesn't he look ready for brooklyn with his lumberjack flannel and robot pants?

i finally found pearl onions during the trader joes shop and made smitten's mushroom bourguignon
it was, confusing.
i'm not sure what i did wrong, i followed the directions and had all the ingredients but it confused me!
the pearl onions seemed to be in the way and i missed the meat.
the mushrooms and sauce were lovely, especially over egg noodles but the sour cream (i used greek yogurt) and parsely were distracting.
however, atty cleaned his bowl and nelson was a fan (sans the damn pearl onions!) but the flavors just weren't my thing.
what was my thing? oh these flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies that's what.
