avocado fries

life is officially pretty excellent now. no matter the six new pimples that have come to visit, or that comcast has increased our cable bill without warning, that sam cooke kicks more seed out of his cage than he actually eats, that we're supposed to get freezing this week , that my iphone has avocado in the crevices or even that i've been singing the weeds theme song for three days. straight. none of it matters. because avocado fries have come into my life. and all is right with the world. a huge thank you to angela for sending me this link on friday. apparently the ny times was in on this phenomenon as well. but ignorant moi had never heard of avocado fries. i bought an avocado on friday night. and by sunday afternoon i was ready. ready to change my life. oh and i changed the recipe a bit as well... of course the star was still front and center but the coatings changed a bit.. and the result also included a dip. all fries need a dip. a vehicle that en...

Remember when....

There are few pictures of myself that I've never seen before. Yesterday, my mom sent me this picture of my sister and I from the early 1980s. And I can't stop looking at it. It's everything. The wood paneled station wagon that I still covet to this day. The polka dot winnie the pooh pants I wish I remembered. The knowing too mature expression on my sister's face that I swear she was born with. The littleness of me that reminds of my own sweet boys. We're sitting on a log that was in the field next to my grandparents' house. That field was our virtual playground and that log was the barrier to the parking lot for the restaurant next door. I do remember sitting on that log, running in that field, making dandelion necklaces in that field, giggling uncontrollably with my aunts and uncles in that field.
