grown up snack plate

when i was about 3 years-old, the snack plate was born.
after my older sister went to school, mom and i would go about our day.
i would "help" fold laundry, we would chat, i would take a nap.
talk about a pretty perfect day right?
well, it would get even better when mom would make a snack plate while we watched the love boat.
the snack plate was usually based around these lovelies:

oh ritz crackers, i adore your buttery goodness that melts in my mouth.
perfect topped with cheese, jam, pb, cream cheese or just butter.
my snack plate usually involved at least one of each of these toppings.
and i always ate the jam covered ritz last, as my dessert, of course.

this past weekend i was in need of a snack plate.
it always satisfies me in a way like nothing else.
after picking up a warm baguette from gold crust bakery,
nelson suggested we swing by cheesetique to pick up a smattering of toppings.

while drooling over the cheese case we patiently waited for the couple in front of us to "sample" too many cheeses. they might have been just a tad uppity, either that or they really thought the bouquet on the Fromager d'Affinois was too robust.
eye roll.
we choose a triple cream brie, toscano hot salami and a pate that scared the bejesus out of me.
oh and ice cold sauvignon blanc.
oh and a dark chocolate bar filled with dried cherries and almonds.
i mean, come on, it was just sitting there next to the register, what's a girl to do?
with all our goodies tucked safely away we made our way home and stared at the gluttonous spread we were about to consume with vim and vigor.
i tuned in the ncaa tournament of course and we devoured our perfect grown up snack plate.

round 2 or 3 or 4.
the nap of course, happened directly after the game.

  1. I am a big fan of the "adult snack". I always feel so fancy munching on grapes, cheese, and salamis haha!

Hope you have a wonderful day!
