Parenting Ups and Downs and Inbetweens

Disclaimer: Some of this is TMI so if you don't have kids and or are on the fence, you may want to stop now.

Ups

1. The Alphabet. Atticus has learned almost all his letters and we (and he!!) are so proud. I don't know if the fever from hell crammed him full of extra intelligence but it really is the sweetest thing how he brings me the book or just points to letters if we're out somewhere and says U (uuuuuuuuu).

2. Kisses. Atty finally will kiss us on occasion, not just the beloved Kermit, Ernie and Bert. But he loves to make Nelson and I kiss by pushing one of our heads into the other when the other is holding him. He then sort of half smiles and hides his face, all embarrassed. So. damn. sweet.

Downs

1. The diapers. We've had a few incidents in the past month. One morning he ripped off his poo diap and stepped in it and then ran onto the carpet with glee. Another night, I took the diap off in anticipation of the BIG night night diap and he peed all over the carpet as soon as he could step five chubby feet away. And on vacation, the diap came off before a shower, i turned on the water and he peed on the floor of the vacation house. Sigh. I think we need to think about thinking about potty training and I'm all sorts of scared y'all.

2. The juice. I was making juice daily for a few months. The doc is pretty anti-juice from the carton but is all pro fresh juice. The doc is also who cares about organic milk and we're all say what guurrrrl? whatev, docs don't know it all. But anyway, Nelson gave me a juicer last year for my HBD and we love it. But lately the juice is giving Atty a bit too many number twos in one day for this mama. So we're juicing on an every other day. i told you, tmi.

Inbetween

1. His Phone Calls. No is still a very popular word in Atty's vocabulary but less so than last month. However, his pretend phone calls are strictly, " hello ( clearly, annoyed) No, no, no! No! no, NO! NO! bbbbbyyeeee (whispered)," followed by whipping the phone. Video to come.
